St. Augustine School (SAS) is a diverse 21st Century learning community. We, students, faculty, staff, parents and community work together to provide a safe learning environment where the “whole child” is being nurtured and challenged to attain his/her full potential for global competency.
Each child is empowered to explore his/her God-given talents through a cross-curricular design of religion, rigorous academics, visual & performing arts, world languages, sports, technology and 21st Century skills. As a 21st Century learning community we celebrate our traditions, faith and cultural heritage. We embrace the challenges of each day of learning and design innovative learning opportunities for future Catholic leaders. We see each child as a “Blessing from God.”
Our team of professional educators models the Catholic faith and life-long learning. Our parents guide our students as primary educators through active engagement. Our community partners collaborate with us to prepare students for global competency.
SAS is a Catholic school of the Archdiocese of Los Angeles. Our school’s mission, philosophy, and vision are rooted in the teaching of Jesus and the Roman Catholic Church. Jesus Christ is our ever-present teacher. Faith formation permeates all aspects of instruction and ranges from pre-school to junior high through scheduled religion classes, sacramental preparation, school masses, service learning and special celebrations.
In the age of sound bites, effective communication is more than just oral and written expression. The ability to convey one’s work and ideas around the world with integrity and originality requires training from an early age. Our young leaders must be able to choose the right communication tool to express their thoughts, knowledge, creativity, and solutions in a variety of world languages.
Teaching our children specific subject content is important, but teaching them how to learn is invaluable. We empower our students to be life-long learners so that they can succeed through college and beyond.
Being a global citizen requires open-mindedness, respect, and collaboration. At SAS, we believe that our local actions have a global impact. Our students, parents, and teachers give back to their community at both a regional and international level.
At SAS, students receive the attention they need to excel. With relatively small class sizes, students are afforded multiple opportunities to discover their own talents and gifts. SAS has a proud tradition of having 100% of its graduates who applied to Catholic high schools be accepted, with many being placed in advanced programs.
